Biological properties:

Similar to CRP, Serum amyloid A (SAA) is an acute phase protein used to assess the level of inflammation in the body.

Clinical application:

It can reach its peak within 4-6 hours after the occurrence of systemic inflammation in the body. After the treatment of the disease, SAA level will significantly drop or return to normal. Continuous detection of SAA can monitor the development of the disease, surgical situation, and efficacy of antibiotics.
